Falling masonry has obliged the town hall to erect this scaffold on the church's main façade. The local stone - even the King's mason's stone from the 17th century - is quite weak and deteriorates over the years with rainwater, frost and high UV sunlight. In France, the responsibility of maintenance falls to the town rather than the church, as usually the State is the actual owner.

We noticed the scaffolding this morning and wondered why.... Now we know!
Thanks, also, for the Panhard information. We note there is an Exposition de voitures anciennes Panhard this Sunday in Descartes.
